Corruption in Sri Lanka

Petty corruption remains a problem in Sri Lanka, and weak whistleblower protections have negative impacts on citizen's willingness to stand up against corruption. Despite some recent institutional reforms by the government in order to fight corruption, whistleblower protections need to be improved.[1]

Transparency International's 2021 Corruption Perceptions Index ranks Sri Lanka in 102nd place out of 180 countries in the Index.[2] A high ranking corresponds to a perception of serious corruption in the country's public sector.[3]
