Chris Orestis

Chris Orestis CSA, is President of Retirement Genius, and is a nationally recognized senior care advocate and a financial, health/LTC, and retirement issues expert.[1] He is credited with pioneering the Long-Term Care Life Settlement over a decade ago.[2]

Early life and education

Chris Orestis grew up in Lewiston, Maine and attended college at Boston University. He grew up in a long-term care environment through his family who is the largest owner and operator of skilled nursing facilities and assisted living communities in Maine.

Career

After college, Orestis worked in Washington, D.C. as a lobbyist, who has worked in both the White House and for the Senate Majority Leader on Capitol Hill. Orestis co-authored the model for legislation specifically endorsing the Long Term Care Benefit Plan, a concept which has been introduced in state legislatures across the country and in Congress. To implement his ideas on senior care funding, he testified before the National Conference of Insurance Legislatures and state legislatures and governmental bodies.[3] He was a contributor to the Commission on Long-Term Care's report to Congress in 2013.[4] He decided to transition from politics back to senior care, becoming the Vice President for the Health Insurance Association of America and Senior Vice President of the American Council of Life Insurers. Orestis went on to found Life Care Funding in 2007, LifeCare Xchange in 2017,[5] and Retirement Genius in 2020.

In 2019, Orestis was named one of the twenty most innovative people in the insurance industry by the National Association of Independent Brokerage Agencies (NAILBA).[6] He has been speaking for two-decades across the country about senior finance and the secrets to aging with financial and physical health and dignity.

Orestis wrote two books,Help on the Way about funding long-term care, and A Survival Guide to Aging, which shares practical tips for seniors to live a fulfilling life. A third book, Retire Like a Genius, has not yet been released.
