Chloé McNally

Chloé McNally is an American competitor of Brazilian jiu-jitsu. A No-Gi World champion, double IBJJF Pan American champion and Brazilian Nationals champion in colored belts, McNally is a black belt 2021 World Championship medallist as well as a 2022 Pan Jiu-Jitsu Championship medallist.[3]

Career

Chloé Michele McNally was born in San Francisco. In her youth she competed in Eventing, a horse riding events, reaching the AAU Junior Olympic Games. In 2014 she discovered Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) at a local martial arts school, she then moved to Clockwork BJJ under 3rd Degree Black belt Josh Griffiths where she earned her blue belt and started competing.[1]

In 2016 she joined Unity Jiu Jitsu under team founder and former world champion Murilo Santana.[5] The following year she became the 2017 No-Gi World Champion in the blue belt division, winning bronze at the Gi World Championship (silver in Absolute), at the 2017 No-Gi Pan she won Silver (bronze in Absolute) and bronze at the Gi World Championship. At UAEJJF World Pro Championship she was chosen to represent the United States alongside Mackenzie Dern, Keenan Cornelius and others, as part of the USA National Squad.[6] The following year competing as a purple belt she won double gold at the IBJJF New York Pro, defeating Brianna Ste-Marie in the Absolute final; she then won the IBJJF Brazilian Nationals, becoming one of the rare non-Brazilians to do so, she then won double silver at the 2018 World Championship and bronze at the Pans. The following year she became the 2018 Pan Champion after winning gold in the purple belt division, she then won double silver at the World Championship. After receiving her brown belt she won bronze at the No-Gi World followed in 2020 with gold and another Pan title (Silver in Absolute). In August 2020 she competed at Subversiv 3 a grappling team tournament, held in Dallas, Texas, losing to super Super Heavyweight World No-Gi Champion Kendall Reusing.[7] in December McNally won bronze at the 2020 American National IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship.[1]

On May 22, 2021. McNally received her black belt from Santana. Competing for the first time as a black belt she double-medaled with a bronze and a silver (Absolute) at the IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu CON tournament in Las Vegas,[8] and a gold medal at the IBJJF Atlanta Summer International Open.[3] McNally then won bronze in the medium-Heavyweight division at the 2021 World Championship and at the 2021 Pan Jiu-Jitsu Championship. In 2022 she won gold at the Charleston Open[9] then won silver at the 2022 Pan Jiu-Jitsu Championship in the Middleweight final against Thamara Ferreira after losing 2-1 by advantage awarded due to a penalty.[1][10]
