History

Chateau School was founded on November 11, 2011.[3] The school was founded by Rina Bovrisse, whose experience with pre-school needs while working in the fashion industry and being educated in international schools inspired the Chateau School concept.[4] The first school opened in the basement of Cat Street, Tokyo. In 2015, the school moved to a freestanding 3 story designer's building in the cosmopolitan district of Azabu.

Program

The day's core activities are built around the theme of a country. Throughout the day, the children consider themselves “diplomats” and the teachers are “ambassadors,” and the children check in with pretend passports on arrival. Drawing on Montessori methods, the curriculum includes second and third languages, and the subjects of a liberal arts program—math, science, social studies, music, and arts, including technology components.[5]

From 3pm to 6pm, extra activities are offered including Chinese and Japanese languages, violin, and harp.[6]

A preparation program to support entries to higher education at international schools is offered.[7]
