Biography

Buckle writes not from the perspective of an academic or a historian, but as a single mum living in rural Zimbabwe. Her "Letter from Zimbabwe" blog is read around the world, and is often featured in print and broadcast media outlets. Buckle originally trained as a social worker at the University of Rhodesia, graduating in social work in 1979.

Books

Buckle has written four books for children, one of which was selected as a set book in 2017 for English literature students in Zimbabwean senior schools. One of her memoirs, African Tears, which chronicles the personal story of the invasion of her farm bought after Zimbabwean independence and with government approval,[1] was serialized in the UK's The Sunday Times,[2] South Africa's Femina magazine and Rapport newspaper.[3]

In Buckle's book Innocent Victims – Rescuing the stranded animals of Zimbabwe’s farm invasions she wrote about the Zimbabwe Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals' rescues of animals during the farm invasions.[4] In her regular e-mail newsletter Letter from Zimbabwe she has also written about cruelty to animals during the land invasions and bringing perpetrators to justice.[5]
