History

After 1,5 year dispute with the German media authorities, Axel Springer SE received a license for its private television "Bild Digital Live TV". The group had originally been of the opinion that it did not need a broadcasting license for the TV-channel. In April 2020 Axel Springer got the broadcasting licence.[2]

Bild Zeitung editor-in-chief Julian Reichelt is hosting a programm "Here speak the people".[3]

Context

According to the media journalist Steffen Grimberg, Axel Springer SE wants to become the leading digital media company in Germany. The group is already represented with the news channel “Welt” and now wants to follow suit with the big boulevard flagship “Bild”. "Bild.de" is already one of the most successful German online platforms, but there was still a lack of moving images.[3]
