Batyr Atdaev

Batyr Atdaev is the incumbent Prosecutor General of Turkmenistan.

Early life

Atdaev graduated from the Law Faculty of the Turkmen State University in early 1990s.[1][2]

Career

In February 2016, Atdaev was appointed as the Deputy Chairperson of Turkmenistan’s Cabinet of Ministers and tasked with overseeing commercial trade and foreign economic relations.[3][2] He was also the ex-officio Deputy Prime Minister.[4]

On 13 May 2017, he was appointed by President Berdimuhamedow as the new Prosecutor General, replacing Amanmyrat Khallyyev.[3][lower-alpha 1] On 5 November 2021, he was publicly reprimanded by Berdimuhamedow for "improper performance of official duties and weakening of prosecutorial supervision over the activities of the oil and gas complex."[6]
