Balach

Balach (بالآچ) is a Baloch first name for males. The name means either a sunbeam, or one who thinks highly, or someone with a great rank. Other versions of the name are Balaj and Balanch.

Balach and Balachs are also Catalan surnames, now almost extinguished. They seem to come from a local Catalan word for argelaga, meaning "furz".

A notable person named Balach is Balach Marri of Balochistan, Pakistan, who was a tribal chief, politician and a freedom fighter, born in 1966.
