History
The brand was created in Brazil in 1935 by the company Malharia Santa Isabel, whose founder is Antonio de Oliveira.[2] The brand "Athleta" was chosen by the company to identify its sporting goods.[3] In the beginning, it manufactured socks and shirts for amateur sports. It was the manufacturer of the official shirts of the Brazilian national soccer team from 1954 to 1974.[1]
In 2009 the brand reappeared in the market by the Japanese group The Brand's Company (TBC).[1][2]
