Asim Arun

Asim Arun (born 3 October 1970; sometimes spelt Aseem Arun) is an Indian politician and resigned 1994 Batch Indian Police Service officer. Arun is the member of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly from Kannauj Sadar since March 2022.[1][2][3] He is a member of Bharatiya Janata Party.[4][5][6] He is a Minister of State (Independent Charge) Social welfare in Second Yogi Adityanath ministry.[7]

Career

Asim Arun was included in the security squad of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh of the country. In that he was the head of the close protection team of SPG. Apart from this, he has also served in SPG, NSG and CBI.

SWAT team is formed for terrorist and dangerous missions. In this, each commando is equipped with large and modern weapons. The credit for starting this team also goes to IPS Asim Arun. During his posting in Aligarh in 2009, he had formed the country’s first district level Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT)  . After this, while being DIG in Agra, he started this team there as well.
