Arsh Muneer

Arsh Muneer was a Pakistani actress and singer who acted in numerous television dramas.[2] She was known for her roles in dramas in Shama, Shehzori, Zer, Zabar, Pesh, Intezar Farmaiye and Ana.[2]

Early life

Arsh was born in 1930 in Lucknow, British India.[3] She migrated to Pakistan in Karachi with her family.[3] She completed her studies from University of Karachi.[3] She started working at Radio Pakistan in Lahore in 1960s.[3][4]

Career

She made her debut as an actress on PTV in 1960s.[2][5] She was noted for her roles in dramas Zer, Zabar, Pesh, Jaidi and Eid Ka Jora.[6][7] She also appeared in dramas Oh, Maaf Kijiye, Intezar Farmaiye, Kya Bane Baat and Fanooni Lateefay.[8][9] She worked at Radio Pakistan for 30 years.[4][10][11] She also appeared in movie Insan Badalta Hay.[12][13] She also sanged songs for Radio, dramas and films.[3][14] Since then she appeared in dramas Ana, Ba Adab Ba Mulahiza Hoshiyar and Shehzori.[15][4] For her contributions towards the television industry, she was honored by the Government of Pakistan with the Pride of Performance in 1983.[16] In 2005, Tributes were paid to her at the 1st Indus Drama Awards in Karachi by television personalities including Moin Akhter, Babra Sharif, Faysal Qureshi, Humayun Saeed, Sultana Siddiqui and Adnan Siddiqui.[17][18]

Personal life

Arsh was married and had two children.[3]

Death

She died on 8 September 1998 in Karachi and was buried at Sakhi Hassan Graveyard.[3]
