In February 2021, Tendulkar was bought by the Mumbai Indians[8] in the IPL auction ahead of the 2021 Indian Premier League.[9][10] In September 2021, Tendulkar was selected in Mumbai's senior squad for the first time. He was included in Mumbai's 22-man Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy squad.[11] However, he was later ruled out of the 2021 IPL due to injury.[12] In February 2022, he was again bought by the Mumbai Indians, this time in the auction for the 2022 Indian Premier League tournament.[13]
