Andrea Salinas

Andrea Salinas (born 1969) is an American Democratic politician serving in the Oregon House of Representatives from the 38th district, which includes most of Lake Oswego and portions of southwestern Portland. In November 2021, she announced her candidacy for Oregon's 6th congressional district.[1]

Early life and education

Salinas is the daughter of an immigrant from Mexico.[2] Salinas graduated from the University of California, Berkeley.[3]

Career

Salinas was a legislative aide for Senator Harry Reid, Congressman Pete Stark, and Congresswoman Darlene Hooley.[1] She was the legislative director for the Oregon Environmental Council, owned her own legislative consulting practice, and was the Oregon vice president of Strategies 360, a political consulting firm.[1][4]

In September 2017, Salinas was appointed to fill the vacancy in District 38 of the Oregon House of Representatives created when Ann Lininger was appointed to the Clackamas County circuit court. Salinas completed Lininger's term, and was re-elected in 2018 and 2020.[5][6] In the 2021 legislative session, she served in the leadership of the House Democratic Caucus as the majority whip.[7]

Personal life

Salinas lives with her husband and daughter in Lake Oswego.[1]
