Aaron Pedersen
Aaron Pedersen (born 24 November 1970) is an Australian television and film actor of Arrernte and Arabana Australian Aboriginal descent.[1][2]

He is known for his various film and television roles including: lawyer Vince Cellini in Wildside (1997-1999), Detective Senior Constable Michael Reilly in Water Rats (1999-2001), Corey Mailins in The Secret Life of Us (2005), solicitor Drew Ellis in The Circuit (2007-2010), Detective Senior Constable Duncan Freeman in City Homicide (2007-2011), Cam Delray in the Jack Irish (2012-2021), Detective Jay Swan in Mystery Road (2013); a role he reprised in its sequel film Goldstone (2016),[1] and it's spin-off television series (2018-2020),[1] war veteran Frank Gibbs in A Place to Call Home (2017-2018) and Tom Campbell in Total Control (2019).
Early life
Pedersen was born in Alice Springs.[3]
He and his seven siblings, grew up in foster homes away from their alcoholic mother.[4]
In the early 1990s, Pedersen underwent a cadetship at The ABC in Melbourne, and worked as a journalist and presenter. He was a host for the Aboriginal focused series Blackout.[5]
Career
His acting career began in 1994, when he starred in the miniseries Heartland and was voted Bachelor of the Year by Cleo magazine.[6] He came to notice in 1995 as co-host of Gladiators Australia, an Australian game show.
Pedersen's first major acting role was for Wildside in 1997. In 1999, he played Michael Reilly in Water Rats, for two seasons. His other dramatic roles have included MDA (in 2002) and The Secret Life of Us (2005).
Since 2007, he had the leading role in SBS's drama series The Circuit, and in 2007, he began appearing in Channel Seven's drama City Homicide (which ended in 2011).
He appeared as Cam in ABC Television's Jack Irish series beginning in 2012 and running for several seasons, and plays Frank Gibbs, an Indigenous war veteran, in season 5 of A Place to Call Home. In 2018, he starred as detective Jay Swan in the ABC TV series Mystery Road, reprising the role he played in the movie Mystery Road (2013) and its sequel, Goldstone (2016).
In 2021 he was the presenter for an ABC Television documentary series Australia Remastered: Nature's Great Divide. In the same year he featured as a presenter with the writer Holly Ringland in an 8-episode documentary series on ABC Television called Back to Nature.[7]
Personal life
Pedersen is a carer for his younger brother Vinnie, who has cerebral palsy, and mild intellectual disabilities. Vinnie accompanies Aaron during his filming.[8]
Recognition
In 2007 Pedersen was the recipient of the Bob Maza Fellowship, which recognises emerging acting talent and support professional development for Indigenous actors.[9]
