Aam Aadmi Party Goa or AAP Goa is a state wing of Aam Aadmi Party in the Indian state of Goa. AAP became a recognized state party in Goa in 2022 when it secured more than 6% of votes and won 2 seats.

Agitation

In December 2021 AAP leader and Chief minister candidate, Amit Palekar, organised agitation against the construction of illegal buildings. He sat on a five day hunger strike after which the Goa government ordered the demolition of the structure.[2] Herald Goa reported that his signature campaign received support from more than 30,000 people in Goa.[3][4] Palekar credited the success of the agitation to the support by the local people.[2]

2017 Election results

AAP contested 2017 Goa elections led by Elvis Golmes,[5] but won no seats.[6]

2022 Assembly election

AAP contested the election for 39 seats and left one seat for independent Dr. Chandrakant Shetye in Bicholim.[7]

In January 2021 Arvind Kejriwal announced that AAP would contest in 2022 Goa Legislative Assembly election.[8] Arvind Kejriwal's slogan was Guarantees for Goans in his campaign based on development and positivity. His campaign emphasized:[9]

  • Jobs for Goans
  • 1 job per family for unemployed, or ₹3000/month until then
  • 80% private jobs reserved for Goans
  • ₹5000/month for unemployed in tourism due to COVID
  • ₹5000/month for those affected by mining ban
  • Skill University
  • Free pilgrimage for across the religion

AAP decided to carry out every project with citizens' consent. AAP promised to increase the remuneration provided to women in Goa under a state-sponsored scheme. It promised financial assistance to women not covered under it. AAP gave a CM candidate for Goans. Amit Palekar was made the CM face by AAP. AAP won two seats in the election.
