- January 1 – Republic Act No. 11467, which increases the excise tax on alcohol products, electronic cigarettes, and heated tobacco products, takes effect.[2]
- January 6 – President Rodrigo Duterte signs Republic Act No. 11642, that seeks to simplify the process of adoption, as thousands of children remained under government care while awaiting permanent homes.[3][4]
- January 7:
- Monsignors Lope Robredillo, Eutiquio "Euly" Belizar Jr., and Romeo Solidon, three priests of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Borongan in Eastern Samar, are appointed by Pope Francis as the "Chaplains to His Holiness".[5][6][7][8][9]
- Juanito Itaas, convicted in 1991 for his involvement in the 1989 killing of United States Army Col. - The National Bureau of Investigation files murder complaints against 17 cops over the killing of two of nine activists killed during the "Bloody Sunday" operations in March 7, 2021.[16][17][18]
- India–Philippines relations: Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana announces that the Philippines has bought a $370-million shore-based anti-ship missile project from India.[19][20] On January 28, the two countries signs the contract for the acquisition of the BrahMos missile system.[21][22]
- President Rodrigo Duterte signs Republic Act Nos. 11644 and 11645, declaring the city of Carcar in Cebu and the town of San Vicente in Ilocos Sur as heritage zones.[23]
- January 18 – Five persons who were involved in the reported fraudulent schemes targeting BDO Unibank Inc., in December 2021, were arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation in an entrapment operation in Mabalacat, Pampanga.[24][25][26][27] On January 26, DOJ indicts four individuals following its investigation of the fraud that hit the said bank.[28]
- January 20 – The Department of Justice indicts nine police officers over the killings of former Calbayog City Mayor Ronaldo Aquino, and his companions in March 8, 2021.[29][30]

- February 5 – The US Federal Bureau of Investigation published religious leader Apollo Quiboloy as one of the most wanted list for sex trafficking.[34][35][36]
- February 7 – The Philippines begins the vaccination of children ages 5 to 11 against COVID-19 in Metro Manila after a few days of delay due to logistical challenges.[37][38]
- February 12 – At least 9 people were killed after they were ambushed at Kalumamis Village in Guindulungan, Maguindanao.[39][40]
- February 18:
- Natividad Castro, a doctor, who is an advocate of Lumad communities in Mindanao, was arrested by members of PNP in was arrested in San Juan City.[41][42] On March 25, the Bayugan City Regional Trial Court Branch 7, junks the kidnapping and serious illegal detention case against Dr. Castro.[43]
- Cagayan de Oro prosecutors junks seven cyber libel complaints against Rappler journalists, a professor and 3 former members of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) church over a series of articles accusing the religious group’s founder, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, of sexual abuse, trafficking and fraud, among other cases.[44]
- February 21 – One police personnel died while two others were confirmed injured when a helicopter of the PNP crashed in Real, Quezon.[45][46]
- February 22 – Philippines–Poland relations: The Philippines signs a contract for the purchase of 32 Black Hawk helicopters from Poland worth US$624 million or more than ₱32 billion.[47]
- February 23 – The Philippine government through the Anti-Terrorism Council formally declares 16 organizations which was supposedly functioning as underground organizations of the communist groups as terrorists in its resolution dated January 26.[48][49]

- The Senate Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs approves a resolution to suspend the operations of online cockfighting operators amid a series of disappearances linked to "e-sabong".[50]
- The Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 11, rejects the bid of 10 fraternity members implicated in the September 2017 death of University of Santo Tomas law student Horacio "Atio" Castillo III to junk the hazing case against them supposedly due to insufficiency of evidence.[51]

- March 26 – Taal Volcano was placed on Alert Level 3 after its "main crater generated a short-lived phreatomagmatic burst," with plumes reaching as high as 1,500 meters.[71][72][73][74]

- President Rodrigo Duterte signs Republic Act Nos. 11684, 11685, 11686, 11687, and 11688, that declared Mount Pulag and Mount Arayat in Luzon, as well as other areas, as protected landscapes.[80]
- April 9–12 – Tropical Storm Megi (Agaton) devastates Visayas and major parts of Mindanao; reported death toll is 212, mostly from landslides occurred in Baybay City and Abuyog in Leyte, while 132 are still missing.[81] Damages are estimated at almost 5 billion pesos.[82][83]
- April 12 – A total of 8,241 examinees out of 11,402 takers passed the 2020/2021 Bar Examinations, which was dubbed as the "Biggest Bar Ever," for a 72.28% passing rate.[84]

- April 19 – The Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) launches "E-Reklamo", an online platform where the public can lodge complaints about difficulties in government transactions, including permit application, tax payments, or other fees.[91]
- April 26 – The Supreme Court in its deliberation denies with finality all motions for reconsideration of its Dec. 7, 2021 decision which challenge the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020 (Republic Act No. 11479) to declare it as unconstitutional.[92] Due to lack of substantial issues and arguments raised by petitioners, the high court's judgement resulted to reject their motions.[93]

- The Supreme Court rules that the Bonifacio Global City complex, along with several surrounding barangays of Makati is owned by Taguig.[94]
- At least four people are killed while 15 others injured after the old Clarin Bridge collapsed over Loboc River in Loay, Bohol.[95]
- The Department of Health detects the first case of Omicron BA.2.12 in Baguio City.[96]
- The country's longest bridge connecting Cebu City and Cordova, Cebu, part of the Cebu–Cordova Link Expressway project, is inaugurated.[97][98][99][100][101]

On April 13, 2022, President Duterte signs Republic Act 11699 which declares every 30th day of August as a working holiday to be known as National Press Freedom Day in honor of Marcelo H. Del Pilar, the father of Philippine Journalism.[117]
