2022 State Opening of Parliament

A State Opening of Parliament is scheduled for 10 May 2022.[1] Queen Elizabeth II will open the third session of the 2019 Parliament with the traditional Queen's Speech.[2] It will be held a month before her Platinum Jubilee in June.[3]

It will be the 68th state opening carried out by the Queen.

Bills

A number of bills will be carried over from the previous session.[4]

Speculation

The Daily Telegraph reported that the speech may include bills on the Levelling up policy, a Proposed British Bill of Rights, the Northern Ireland Protocol, Channel 4 privatisation, cost of living, and mental health reform.[5][6]
