2022 Appalachian State Mountaineers football team

The 2022 Appalachian State Mountaineers football team will represent Appalachian State University during the 2022 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Mountaineers are led by third-year head coach Shawn Clark. Appalachian State plays their home games at Kidd Brewer Stadium on the school's Boone, North Carolina, campus, and competed as a member of the East Division of the Sun Belt Conference.

Previous season

The Mountaineers finished the 2021 season 10–4, 7–1 in Sun Belt play to finish in first place in the East Division. The Mountaineers, finishing second overall in the Sun Belt, were participants in the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Football Championship Game. They lost to the Appalachian State. They were invited to play in the Boca Raton Bowl where they lost to Western Kentucky 38–59.
