Summary
The 2022 World Cup and 2023 AFC Asian Cup qualification matches were pushed back to 2021 as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.[1] Australia had also accepted an invitation to participate in the 2020 Copa América as a guest nation,[2] but this competition was also postponed to 2021,[3] and Australia subsequently withdrew.[4]
