2000 Kentucky Wildcats football team

The 2000 Kentucky Wildcats football team represented the University of Kentucky during the 2000 NCAA Division I-A football season. They participated as members of the Southeastern Conference in the Eastern Division. The team played their home games at Commonwealth Stadium in Lexington, Kentucky. They were led by head coach Hal Mumme, who was fired after the end of the season.[1]

The 2000 Kentucky Wildcats football team represented the University of Kentucky in the NCAA Division I-A football season. The team played there home games at Commonwealth Stadium in Lexington Kentucky. They were led by head coach Hal Mumme, who was then fired at the end of the season for possible NCAA violations. Following Defensive Coordinator Mike Major. When recruiting season came around they had a total of 247 football commits which really helped out their team in the season.

Competition During the Season

During the season there was high competition in their roster. Even though they didn't stick with a strong winning record they had some very close challenging games. When looking at their season they played the Indiana Hoosiers on September 13th of 2000. These two teams have been one of Americas top football rivalry games other than the Louisville Cardinals. They had a big advantage since this game was played at Commonwealth Stadium. Last time the Wildcats had played the Hoosiers it was in 1893 in which they tied the game in Lexington at a score of 24. When they played in 2000 at Commonwealth stadium they had won with a score of 41-34.
