1980 US Open – Men's singles

Defending champion John McEnroe successfully defended his title, defeating Björn Borg in the final, 7–6(7–4), 6–1, 6–7(5–7), 5–7, 6–4 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 1980 US Open. The final is often ranked among the best matches in tennis history.[1] It was the first successful title defense of the US Open men's singles event in the Open Era.
