2022 Maccabiah Games

The 2022 Maccabiah Games (Hebrew: משחקי המכביה 2022), also referred to as the 21st Maccabiah Games (Hebrew: המכביה ה-21), are the 21st edition of the Maccabiah Games. They are scheduled to take place from 12 to 26 July 2022, in Israel. The Maccabiah Games are open to Jewish athletes from around the world, and to all Israeli citizens regardless of their religion. Approximately 10,000 athletes, from 80 countries are expected to compete in over 40 sports categories.

History

The Maccabiah Games were first held in 1932.[1] In 1961, the Games were recognized as Regional Games by the International Olympic Committee. The Games rank among the five largest sports gatherings in the world in number of participants.[2][3]

The Games are organized by an International Committee.[4]

Opening ceremonies

The opening ceremonies are scheduled to take place at Teddy Stadium in Jerusalem, which is also designated as the "Capital of the Maccabiah" for the Games.[5]

The Maccabiah Games are open to Jewish athletes from around the world, and to all Israeli citizens regardless of their religion. The following countries and number of athletes from each are participating in the 2022 Maccabiah Games:
