2021–22 Scottish Women's Premier League

The 2021–22 Scottish Women's Premier League is the 21st season of the SWPL, the highest division of women's football in Scotland since 2002. The league is split into two divisions – SWPL 1 with 10 teams[1] and SWPL 2 with seven teams, following the demise of Forfar Farmington in 2021.[2]

Glasgow City are the defending champions of 14 consecutive seasons. City lost a decisive away derby match, 3–1, at Rangers in February 2022,[3] giving Rangers a five-point lead through March. The SWPL 2 champions are Dundee United, ahead of Boroughmuir Thistle and Glasgow Women, who are both seeking the runners-up place.[4] For the first time, this season will include an SWPL 1–SWPL 2 promotion/relegation play-off (for the clubs in 9th place and 2nd place respectively).

The league season started on 5 September 2021 and is due to end on 15 May 2022.[5] The competition was known as the Scottish Building Society Scottish Women's Premier League for sponsorship reasons,[6] then as the Park's Motor Group Scottish Women's Premier League from November 2021.[7]
