2020–21 Liga IV Prahova

The 2020–21 Liga IV Prahova is the 53rd season of the Liga IV Prahova, the fourth tier of the Romanian football league system. Originally scheduled to start in August 2020, the season was postponed due to the impact of COVID-19 pandemic.[1]

On 7 April 2021, the Romanian Football Federation decided to allow the County Football Associations to organize a short tournament and until 8 May, they must communicate the teams qualified for the promotion play-off to Liga III.[2]

The tournament organized by AJF Prahova started on 18 April and should concluded on 8 May 2021.[3][4] Petrolul 95 Ploiești win the title and qualify to promotion play-off in Liga III.

Overview

Teams and competition format

Four clubs responded positively, that they can participate in this tournament and observe the new medical protocol, the minimum number of clubs after which the County Football Association (Asociația Județeană de Fotbal) can send its representative at the play-off matches for Liga 3.[5]

The competition will be played in a double round-robin tournament, six matches for each team, and then the leader and the runner-up of the regular season will play the championship final.[6]

Championship final

The championship final played between the leader and the runner-up of the regular season. If the match ended in a draw, the high-seeded team will be declared winners.[7]
