2018–19 Liga IV Giurgiu

The 2018–19 Liga IV Giurgiu was the 38th season of the Liga IV Giurgiu, the fourth tier of the Romanian football league system. The season began on 25 August 2018[1][2] and ended on 8 June 2019. Mihai Bravu win the title and qualify to promotion play-off in Liga III.[3]

Team changes

  • Prundu, Progresul Valea Dragului, Olimpia Mîrșa and Voința Podișor relegated from Liga IV due to the withdrawal from previous season.
  • Săbărelul Ciocoveni, Scărișoara, Maxima Hobaia and Rapid Clejani were promoted from 2017–18 Liga V Giurgiu.
  • Pro Giurgiu and Unirea Frătești withdrew due to financial problems.
  • Săbărelul Ciocoveni, Scărișoara and Unirea Vînătorii Mici withdrew due to financial difficultties and were replaced by Argeșul Hotarele, Gloria Comana and Podu Doamnei.

Competition format

The league consisted of 30 teams divided into 2 series, South Series (Seria Sud) with fourteen teams and North Series (Seria Nord) with sixteen teams, and will play a regular season, followed by a play-off. The regular season is a double round-robin tournament. At the end of regular season, the first 2 ranked teams in each series will qualify for championship play-off and the winner will participate for promotion play-off to Liga III.

  1. Following the decision of the Disciplinary Commission of 25.09.2018, the teams Gloria Comana and Real Colibași were penalized with losing the game by double forfeit.
