Overview

The 1990–91 season does not claim historic distinctions for AEK Athens. The club was plagued by administrative problems and the only positive elements of the season was the necessary time credit that was allowed to the coach, Dušan Bajević, to prepare the "comeback" of the following seasons. In this season, only the victory in the derby against Olympiacos in Rhodes with a goal by Daniel Batista and a satisfying 6–0 against Xanthi early in the season, stood out. The rest of the season was part of the "transitional" period and administrative reshuffles, as the end of Zafeiropoulos' ownership was approaching (since Stratos Gidopoulos never had the shares, he was only given the management of the club) and at the end of the period the Court of First Instance chose with the temporary administration of the head Kostas Generakis. So in a season that was quickly forgotten, but the foundations were established for the following, the top scorer of the team was Batista with 14 goals and it was decided to be framed by more capable teammates to continue Bajević's spectacular and aggressive football. And the continuation was indeed compensated.[1]
