Šakvice

Šakvice (German: Schakwitz) is a municipality and village in Břeclav District in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 1,500 inhabitants.

Šakvice lies approximately 20 kilometres (12 mi) north-west of Břeclav, 35 kilometres (22 mi) south of Brno, and 213 kilometres (132 mi) south-east of Prague.

History

The first written mention of Šakvice is from 1248.[2]

Šakvice train collision took place here in 1953.
